In Hanover and Gettysburg, the holiday weekend features everything from historical reenactments and live music to family activities and some of the area’s biggest annual festivities.

4th of July Celebrations in Gettysburg, PA
With its ties to both the Revolutionary and Civil War eras, Gettysburg offers a Fourth of July weekend packed with historical experiences, community traditions, and family-friendly entertainment.
Battle of Gettysburg 163rd Anniversary Reenactment
Date: July 3 – 5, 2026
Start Time: 8:30 AM
Location: Historic Daniel Lady Farm, 1008 Hanover Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325
The 163rd Anniversary Battle of Gettysburg Reenactment is one of the most immersive Civil War events in the country. Held at the Historic Daniel Lady Farm on Hanover Road, the event brings roughly 1,000 reenactors and a massive crowd.
This is a great chance to engage with Living Historians and get a glimpse into the daily life of a Civil War soldier. Each day closes with a full-scale battle reenactment.
Dobbin House Tavern 4th of July Celebration
Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Dobbin House Tavern, 89 Steinwehr Ave, Gettysburg, PA
Admission: Free
The Dobbin House Tavern dates back to 1776, the same year the Declaration of Independence was signed. And this year they’re celebrating both birthdays with a reading of the Declaration by a Thomas Jefferson reenactor.
There will also be family-friendly activities, music, games, and a chance to sign a replica of the Declaration. If you’re spending the morning in Gettysburg before the afternoon’s bigger events, this makes for a memorable first stop.
A Gettysburg Fourth + Fireworks Display
Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026
Time: 8:00 AM | Fireworks start at 9:15 PM
Location: Gettysburg Rec Park, 545 Long Lane, Gettysburg, PA 17325
Admission: $5 parking donation per vehicle
This is Gettysburg’s main 4th of July celebration, which takes place at Gettysburg Rec Park. Start the day with the 8 AM Adams County Farmers Market with local vendors and a chance to grab breakfast before the crowds show up.
The rest of the day features local bands, food trucks, more vendors, and activities for the whole family. And, of course, Gettysburg’s annual 4th of July fireworks display.
Entrance only requires a $5 parking donation per vehicle.
July 4th Celebrations in Hanover, PA
Hanover’s schedule includes events both before and on July 4th, making it easy to add a little holiday spirit to your plans throughout the week.
Summer Lawn Concert with HSO Brass

Location: Warehime Myers Mansion, Hanover, PA
The Hanover Area Historical Society opens the holiday week with an outdoor patriotic concert at the Warehime Myers Mansion, featuring the Hanover Symphony Orchestra Brass Ensemble. This event honors first responders from across the area while bringing the community together for celebration and fun.
Ice cream will be available while supplies last, so make sure to bring the entire family.
Downtown Hanover’s America250 Celebration + Fireworks Display
Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026
Time: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM | Fireworks at 9:30 PM
Location: North Railroad Street, Downtown Hanover (York Street/Broadway north to East Chestnut Street)
Admission: Free
This is the centerpiece of the Fourth of July weekend in Hanover. The America250 | Hanover! planning committee has organized a full-day downtown celebration to mark the nation’s 250th birthday. Events run along North Railroad Street, and the whole thing is free to attend.
The entertainment starts at noon with Stephen Winkler & Red Flag Rodeo on stage and features additional bands throughout the day. While enjoying the local music, you’ll also find activities for everyone. There will be food trucks, local vendors, a beer garden, kids’ activities, cornhole competition, hot dog eating contest, and more.
Fireworks close out the night at 9:30 PM. Plan your viewing spot in advance and allow yourself extra time. You don’t want to miss this year’s display!
